The Tower

(I had started writing a new collection of poetry in 2020, just before COVID hit, to have been titled: "Moving On." I never finished it, and no longer have the desire to. Still, I wrote these and there's no reason not to share them.)


So close together,

and yet so far apart.

Me Romeo, you Juliet.

I can hear you, far off in your tower,

frustrated at the lack of logic in it all.

How I wish you and I

could run away together,

get away from it all,

live a life of only what we want.

 

Instead, here we are,

stuck in the middle of all this madness,

still together, but so far apart.
