The Tower

(I had started writing a new collection of poetry in 2020, just before COVID hit, to have been titled: "Moving On." I never finished it, and no longer have the desire to. Still, I wrote these and there's no reason not to share them.)
So close together,
and yet so far apart.
Me Romeo, you Juliet.
I can hear you, far off in your tower,
frustrated at the lack of logic in it all.
How I wish you and I
could run away together,
get away from it all,
live a life of only what we want.
Instead, here we are,
stuck in the middle of all this madness,
still together, but so far apart.
