(I had started writing a new collection of poetry in 2020, just before COVID hit, to have been titled: "Moving On." I never finished it, and no longer have the desire to. Still, I wrote these and there's no reason not to share them.)
I remember I once wrote
"Who the hell wants to snuggle with a rock anyway?"
Granted,
I knew quite a few people
Who would gladly snuggle with The Rock
If given the opportunity;
I just never understood the attraction.
Then, late one night,
After the playoff game,
I gave you the green light
To retire your jersey until next season.
Seeing the ripples on your arms,
Resting my head on one,
Your bicep my new favorite pillow,
I wondered how
I could finally have gotten so lucky.
