Boundaries

(I had started writing a new collection of poetry in 2020, just before COVID hit, to have been titled: "Moving On." I never finished it, and no longer have the desire to. Still, I wrote these and there's no reason not to share them.)


We started out talking

Until the wee hours of the morning,

Until we had to set a boundary...

Which we both proceeded to break.


You've let me past so many boundaries,

I don't think I'll ever stop being in awe.

No one has ever been this close to you

For so long.


20 months together,

And I could still happily fall asleep

Listening to the sound of your voice.
