"Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered"

I've never written a Halloween poem,

but for you, good sir,

I'm afraid I must.

For I'm afraid I didn't know

about the saying, as it goes,

that it's perilous business to kiss a witch;

for to do so,

you give her power over your heart,

like with a lock of your hair

or the time of your birth.

I thought I'd learned so much,

built a shield around my own heart,

but then I walked through the barrier

without even knowing,

and I felt so safe,

but now my fear is growing

that I might've

put a spell on you,

when you didn't want me to...

and now I don't know what to do,

except wish I could be kissing you

so you could feel the power

you have over mine.

"Good morning, Vietnam!"

Some of you can probably hear Robin Williams saying those words, and remember the emotions that came along with watching that movie...
